Jack is Injured

Jack's speedway comeback came to an abrupt halt after a high speed crash at Sheffield last Thursday.

Jack had answered a late call from Championship side Redcar Bears to guest at number 5, after Thomas Jorgansen had withdrawn through illness.

It was Jack's first visit back to Owlerton after he quit the club 12 months earlier and despite not scoring in his first two rides, he was on the pace riding well with confidence and was taking his final ride when disaster struck. Lining up alongside Bears star Ben Barker, the two riders trailed the homes side riders on the opening lap, with Ben taking the high line and Jack riding the kerb exiting the pits corner only for Barker to get out of shape and the two riders collided at high speed in an horrific looking crash.

Both riders received extensive treatment on the track, before being taken to the treatment room to await the County ambulances to arrive.

Barker was taken to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital, but there was a delay of over an hour before the second ambulance arrived for Jack. He has suffered a badly dislocated shoulder and although x-rays revealed no broken bones, Jack was sedated before his shoulder was put back after a lengthy 3 hour delay and was discharged around 1.30 on Friday morning.

Unfortunately due to the amount of time the shoulder was out, Jacks arm went numb and he has little movement of his fingers. The doctors are confident the feeling in his arm and fingers will return over the next week or so. Jack is due to attend the fracture clinic next week it is hoped he can start his recovery in earnest.

A Go Fundme page has been set on Jacks behalf to help replace Jacks race suit and body amour which was cut off after the accident.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

Jack was recently seen by a specialist at hospital, and he will sadly be out for a few extra weeks than originally anticipated!

We would like to sincerely thank all the track staff, ambulance crews and the Doctors and Nurses, for all their care and concern for Jack's comfort and recovery!
